What Type Of Wine is Produced in Tamar Valley?

The Tamar Valley has a rich variety of grapes that grow well because the river provides protection from frost.

In particular, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc are notable for their quality in this region which produces around 40% of Tasmania’s wine yield.

The area is also known to produce sparkling wines as well as red varieties like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

How Far is Tamar Valley From Launceston?

The Tamar Valley is an easy 60 km stretch north of Launceston along the east side of the Tamar River.

It’s recommended to have a car while traveling in this region, as there are some local buses but it’s tough if you rely only on them for transportation.

Tamar Valley has lots to explore like wineries and beaches, hiring your own vehicle allows you to see everything the valley has to offer!

To enjoy the beautiful scenery, two to three days is recommended in Tamar Valley.
